"Sam Dunk"

Sam Cassell has nailed numerous clutch shots in his 14-year NBA career. Last night, he added another to his long résumé as he hit his first big one as a member of the Celtics.

Cassell nailed a late 3-pointer that helped the Celtics to a 93-91 victory over the reigning NBA champion Spurs at a sold-out and playoff-intense AT&T Center. Although trailing behind by 20 points, Cassell had 17 points off the bench, and his momentum-changing three with 46.4 seconds left gave Boston an 89-87 lead.

"If I get the opportunity, I'm going to make shots," said Cassell, who was playing in just his fourth game since signing with the Celtics March 4. "You know me, I'm going to make some shots. They gave me the opportunity to make the shot and I just made it."

The Celtics have won 12 of 13 games and six straight on the road. The Spurs have dropped four straight, and the loss snapped a seven-game home winning streak. They rock the NBA, and all Boston fans eyes will be watching a what will be a good game against Houston tonight.

Everything

So get this: I've been thinking about ideas for this Valentine's Dinner for 3+ weeks now. I'm finally sitting down at the computer, ready to type up the Menu for the whole thing, and I can't remember even one of my fabulous ideas. No matter what I thought, I'm sure it will turn out alright. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm also supposed to be opening, and closing the dinner with a "few comments." Now, c'mon. I was told I'd only have 5-7 minutes to speak, and let's be honest, I obviously need some work on finishing on time. lol, I can't help but recall how I spoke for 45 minutes at the Teen Service, when I was only given 15. Wow. That's bad. Maybe that's part of the reason we aren't doing another one.

In other news, there's an annual meeting and dinner in church on Sunday. Not that the meeting directly affects me, or does it? And, yeah, there's some kind of football game going on between the (10-6) New York Giants and the (18-0) New England Patriots. I don't really see what the big deal is. Brett Favre won't be there. Ok, you got me, I can't wait for the history-making sporting event of a lifetime. Happy?

N.Y. Giants 23, Green Bay 20 (OT)

"...And with a 47 yard field goal, the New York Giants secure their place in Super Bowl 42!"

As some of you can probably imagine, I'm very sad right now. My beloved Green Bay Packers lost in overtime to the New York Giants 23-20. A 47-yard field goal by Lawrence Tynes in overtime tonight gave the New York Giants a 23-20 victory over the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game. Tynes redeemed himself with the game winner, after missing a 36-yard attempt as time expired in the fourth quarter of a game played in frigid temperatures at historic Lambeau Field. He also kicked two other field goals in the win.

Eli Manning completed 21 of 40 passes for 255 yards for New York (13-6), who will play the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII Feb. 3 in Glendale, Ariz. Plaxico Burress had 11 receptions for 154 yards and Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw each rushed for a touchdown for the Giants. Brett Favre went 19 of 35 passing for 236 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions for the Packers (14-4), who were trying to win their first conference title in 11 years. Donald Driver had five receptions for 141 yards and a score.

What annoys me is that I thought, no, I KNEW they were going to win. I swear on my life that I was planning on rooting for the Packers in the Super Bowl if they took on the Patriots. But now, I don't get the chance! I get to root for something almost as good though. I get to cheer for the future 19-0 New England Patriots who are going to DESTROY the Giants!

As for now though, I'm "mourning the loss of Brett Favre's Super Bowl dreams." Guess I'll just wait till next year...

Politics

I'm a little surprised at how divided the results are on the Republican poll! I added a similar one on the Democratic party, so be sure to vote.
I'm currently working on my official prediction of the race, and hope to have it posted soon. Stay tuned....

Goodbye 2007!

Is it just me, or did this year go by extremely fast? It seems like just yesterday, I was at a party at my house eating Chinese food, celebrating the new year, 2007. Even thinking all the way back to the month I got this blog, (June 2007) I'm amazed at how fast the year has flown by. I have a lot of things to be thankful for, and I know you all do to. What will you remember about this past year? What was good about it? Bad? What has God taught you tis year? What are you looking forward to, concerning '08? Please comment, and I will do my best to respond...

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation

Wednesday, I’ll be going on a field trip in school. I will be going to the Museum of Science in Boston, to see a special CSI: Crime Scene Investigation exhibit. It’s kind of funny to note that this will be my first field trip at this school, and this is my second year here. I’m glad I’m going, and I will try my best to post pictures of my trip. Has anyone heard of the exhibit? Has anyone been to it? Please comment…

A Long Day

It is 8:34 AM. I am in school right now, and I am done. I am done every single piece of work that I was assigned today. I have shop until 11:00. Needless to say, I think this day will be a long one for me.

I'll keep myself busy by playing Mini Putt. This is one of the only fun, online games that my school's blocking software will allow. My lowest score is 24. Can anyone beat it?

In other news, we finally have a a new car! It is really nice. It's a '98 Honda Oddessy. Of course, I haven't really seen it in daylight yet, only because we bought it and drove it at night. I heard that Eric had fun messing around in it while it was at there house, and whether he did or didn't, I wouldn't put it past him.

The only downside to the new car is the old one. I felt so sad last night, taking the plates off of the old one, and locking up the car doors one last time. Driving away, and watching that car sit there, alone, was heartbreaking. Our family has had that car for almost 10 years. It was depressing to have to just, leave it there.

Thanksgiving

I'm sitting here on my bed, with my laptop on my lap, typing... and I am stuffed. I can barely keep my eyes open, but I feel bad about not posting for a week or two, so here you go.

The Wednesday Testimony/Pie service went well. I'm glad I got to share a testimony last night, and I definitely enjoyed hearing from those of you readers that were there as well. The pie was good, and the dodgeball was good too. (Even though Jenny almost took me out in both games.) It was good to see the Guggers there last night. Seeing and talking with Danny brought back a lot of memories from a long time ago.

Football this morning was also fun. A few of the calls were the most absurd things I've ever seen! (And believe me, I've seen some pretty absurd things!) I saw some things I didn't need to see, that I have too much decency to post about on a published website, so we won't go any further. Overall, this week has been pretty fun.

"Work Faithfully"

"...the men did the work faithfully... to set it forward"
2 Chronicles 34:12

Saturday is the church's Bi-Annual Work Day. This one is always a little more fun than the spring one, because of a few things. The first, is that it brings a lot of the young men together to do a faithful work for the church. Normally, doing work is not something I look forward to. But for some reason, doing it with my friends makes it fun. I also enjoy cleaning the chandelier shades with Mr. Denno. Contrary to popular opinion, Mr. Denno is a pretty nice guy to hang around with. :P I also like to jump into the leaves when they are all raked up. Once again, :P

Soldier on Wednesday was pretty fun. I ran right into Steven by mistake, but we all make mistakes, right? Anyway, I was being chased by someone, and I tripped, fell, and got my wrist bruised and swollen, and I have some very bad scrapes. It was fun though. I played with NO sweatshirt, so I don't want to hear ANYTHING about me shivering, or being cold, or being a baby! lol What do you think of Work Day, is it fun? Is it boring? Feel free to comment...

Half-days, Wednesdays, and Saturdays...

Half Days, are awesome. I'm in school now, it's about 10:05, and I get out today at 10:30! I plan on going home, drinking a large amount of Coca-Cola, playing some Madden, and topping it all off with using my computer.

Prayer Meeting last night was awesome. Pastor Eric's message from 2nd Kings, about taking a stand was not only edifying as usual, it was down-right energizing. Soldier was also energizing, (just, in a different way...) I took out Corey, and Steven, which is... not something that happens all the time. I've been running alot more lately, and I think the extra training on my leg muscles has helped my speed and endurance.

There's a teen activity coming up soon, and I am pumped! For those of you who still are in the dark about what we're doing, let me turn on a light for you. We'll be playing football! I can't wait! It should be pretty fun, as long as I don't tackle a certain someone...

Comment on anything accept for the tackling thing... even though I can smell Corey and Eric's comments a mile away....
